VAINS
OF JENNA is one of the latest bands right off the
never-ending Swedish Scene, and probably one of the
best. Sporting an explosive blend of MOTLEY CRUE,
FASTER PUSSYCAT and in-your-face SCAN ROCK and a look
that definitely kiss, they're managed by Mr METAL
SLUDGE Stevie Rachelle himself and they'll be shaking
the LA Scene foundations in a very near future! They're
coming to Italy for a promotional tour that will also
put them on stage for the first time ever at this
latitude!
VAINS OF JENNA is a brand new
band from Sweden, a country that recklessly provides
us with some of the finest rock n roll around.
You're a new band, super young and super fresh, can
you describe your brief history in a few lines?
Started up in January 2005. Recorded
one song during that month ("Heartbreak Suicide").
Put it online at www.vainsofjenna.com.
13 Hours later we reseived an e-mail from the Cruefest
staff asking us to play the Whisky A Go Go.
After that the band has been playin' local shows in
Sweden. Played the Whisky. Recorded with Gilby
Clarke.
Played at Glamfest06 in Stockholm. And now we're hittin'
Italy.
You sound to our ears like e perfectly blended mix
between Faster Pussycat and Scandinavian
Rock a là Backyard Babies.
But if you were asked, how would you describe your
music?
Like the perfect rock n' roll
cocktail. It's a mixture between the bands we've grown
up with. Guns N Roses, Rolling
Stones, Aerosmith, Faster
Pussycat and Mötley Crüe.
Sweden has a blossoming rock scene: with which bands
do you get along the most and do you have any bad
blood with any of them?
Hot Rod of Gemini5 is a cool fuckin'
dude. Rob from Loud N' Nasty has
always been supportive. The boys in Crashdiet
rocks.
Don't disslike anyone that's into rock n' roll.
VAINS OF JENNA must be one of the coolest names of
the last five years. Italy surely is the land of pornography,
and Jenna sports quite a following over here: is there
a particular reason behind this monicker?
The band name is all about SEX, DRUGS & ROCK n'
ROLL. And that's what we're all about.
You're very young so it comes natural to ask how you
ended up being influenced by the L.A. Metal scene;
nowadays it's all about emocore and nu metal stuff
when it comes to heavy music, so where did you get
your influences from?
See question above. Like we told you earlier. We have
all been listening to that kind of rock music since
childhood.
It's party music. And we're all about having fun.
You have achieved quite much in a very little time,
from recording in LA with Gilby Clarke,
to being invited to Cruefest, and last but not least
being invited to tour Italy which is becoming more
competitive day by day for rock bands. How could you
put all this together in such a short time?
We've been tryin' hard. Music
is our #1 priority. All other things, like work, relasionships
and other shit has been put away to achive
what we've always dreamt about. And luck has helped
us out a bit to.
This upcoming italian gigs will be, at least for a
while, your last concerts in Europe since if I'm correct
you're moving to LA in April. How did the chanch happen?
We're movin' to the US as soon
as all the paperwork's been done. In the meantime
we're movin' to the UK. Tearin' up the London streets.
It's a pain in the ass for a European band to move
to the US. So we need a cool place to stay, London
seams to be that place for us.
The whole US move is because our manager is located
there and we fell in love with LA last year.
The Swedish rock scene is great, but it's not big
enough for alot of bands. And we wanna give the american
people some fresh rock n' roll air.
You are managed-represented by Stevie Rachelle
and also have been featured on his Metal Sludge
website: how did you hook up with him?
He saw us play at the Whisky last year. He liked what
he saw. And now we're workin' together.
What are your expectations regarding America?
The get our name out and be apart of the new rock
scene that we predict will arise in the near future.
We'll work hard and try to gig and tour as much as
possible. Have fun all the way. We might crash and
burn, but at least we're trying.
The death of Dave Lepard, the singer
of Crash Diet, seemed to have quite
an impact in the Swedish Scene. A young talented musician
with a major label deal committing suicide surely
impressess. Italian rockers Crackhouse,
which by the way will be sharing the stage with you
in the Padova gig, have recently toured Sweden and
noticed how his death was mourned and remembered basically
in every bar, rock club and record shop: how did this
affect you personally? How would you describe the
impact this had on the Swedish rock scene?
We got a shock when we heard it.
It's a tragady. We played with Crashdiet just a couple
of weeks before this happend.
Dave Lepard was a cool fuckin' dude. He liked our
music and we liked his.
Crashdiet was the band that brought back the rock
scene and opened up the young kids eyes.
Don't really know if it have effected the Swedish
rock scene that Dave died. 'cause Sweden still rocks.
It's just such a shame. They could have become a much
bigger band.
Final words for your italian soon-to-be-fans!
