You’ve just ended your
tour and you’ve shared the stage with Crucified
Barbara and Gemini5. Was it everything OK? Best and
worst memories?
What can i say... three great
bands playin´ together on one stage in one night.
Crucified and Gemini are among those bands that makes
you wanna write new good songs and keep the “good
fuckin´music movement” grow. I think we
had a blast.
Worst memories?... OK... the monitorguy was low quality
and stunk.
A couple of new videos are already
out, but no new album yet here in Italy…what’s
going on? Who is Gain out for in Italy?
Since we started our own record-label
we had to build a new net of distributers and contacts.
That took a while. We just wanted to work with cool
people this time and those people can be quite hard
to find these days. There´s a lot of pop-assholes
out there who does´nt have a clue... so watch
out.
About videos, what gig have
the images of "We don't celebrate Sundays"
been taken from?
We went out for the 15th time
with MOTOHEAD and did a scandinavian tour a couple
of weeks before our album was out in stores and just
played new songs from the album. We wanted to have
a video with us performing so people can get a taste
of what we´re about live
What’s your own favourite
video and why?
I love the Sundays video and our
new video (which is my good reputation) because of
the simple fact that it shows the band what we are
really like. Almost like a little documentary of gits
from sweden with instruments.
What is that you don’t
celebrate, beyond Sundays?
We´ll celebrate anything
if there´s a drink in it… with a twist
of lemon.
I got to listen some songs of
the new album and it seems you have moved to a harder
sound, more ‘80s, which I really like. Was it
made on purpose or just happened by chance?
We took a break for 6 months before
writing any songs for this album and that really helped
us to see clearly what we wanted to do. This album
in many ways came to us instead of we trying to write
any songs. I´ve never had so much fun writing
and recording an album like this before. There were
no arguments or fights during the whole making of
the album actually.
I’ve been struck by the
rage of some of the new songs, such as "Kick
on the upperclass" and "Bag On Your Head",
it really seems you wanted to make a U-turn compared
to "No regrets". What do you think of that
album a couple of years after its release?
I think that you can put it in
the poor-production-section. We wanted to do a punky
album with a sound that just said I´ll crush
your balls. Almost like a Misfits type of production.
If you listen to lets say Misfits you´ll find
some really sweet melodies in there but baked with
a skullcrushing sound. No regrets has some really
good songs on it but our producer at that time did
not share our enthusiasum in the production of it.
One of the songs is called "Hateful"...
is there anything or anyone you hate right now?
That song deals with scizophrenia
and it was aimed to ourselves for almost breaking
up the band. If we would have stopped right there,
I guess I would hate myself today.
What do you mean by "Standin
On The Verge"?
It´s about what´s
going on in your head minutes before you deceide to
break up with your partner. Eventhough you´re
the one who´s breakin´ up you never feel
good about it.
Hardcore Superstar means something
very special to me; actually the SLAM! crew coming
from all around Italy met for the first time at your
first Italian show. Have you got some particular memory
of that night?
I think we played at this club
in Milan and all I can remember was that there were
mirrors everywhere, even behind me. People played
our album out in the parking lot before the venue
opened and it was a good show.
As we’re talking about
gig, when are you coming to Italy again? Have you
already hired Debbie to look for some shows?
We´re coming over in the
end of June to do at least 2 shows. One of the gigs
we´ll be playin´ with New york dolls,
wich is fuckin´ fantastic.
You’ve got a large number
of fans here. Why do you think the Italian people
love you so much?
Because you buy music in the “
Good fuckin´ music section” when you go
to the musicstore to buy a CD…. HAHAHAHA.
When will you sing an Italian
version of “Someone special”? : )
That will be the day I also do
the entire show naked, wich is´nt impossible.
Many Italian guys think of Sweden
as a place full of beautiful girls and good venues
to play in…how true is it and what are the pros
and cons of living there?
In many ways you´re absolutly
right. There is a lot of venues to play and the livescene
is also on its way back over here so I expect even
some more venues to pop up. You should talk about
girls! You´re the ones with good looking females.
Hardcore Superstar has been a
great influence for many new bands. What about your
heroes and who has played a fundamental role in your
musical growth?
We come from the hard-rock scene
of the 80´s. We loved both Trash-metal and sleaze
and that´s really where we get all our inspiriations
from. I think you´ll see our trash influences
even more when you see us live. Another lovly little
story is that 3/5 members from faster pussycat have
offered seriously themselves to move to sweden and
become a member of the band.
Talking of heroes…apparently
Axl Rose has finally come back. What’s your
opinion of the new Guns N' Roses?
I´ve heard some songs from his new album and
some of it is quite good but there´s some outdated
shit in there aswell that sounds like Limp bizkit.
He should get rid of those songs and stick to his
sound.
And what do you think of bands
like Veins of Jenna, Cowboy Prostitutes, Loud 'N'
Nasty, Zan Clan and Nasty Idols?
All interesting good fuckin´
bands. We played with Veins of Jenna last week and
they gave us a good show. I´ve met Luca from
Cowboy Prostitutes a couple of times and he´s
has a good taste in music that’s why there such
a good band you know.
That’s all guys. If you
want to leave a final message the last lines are for
you…
Hope to see all of you gits soon.
