Intervista con il chitarrista Dennis Post che, impegnato con le registrazioni del secondo album degli STAR RATS, ha trovato un pò di tempo per rispondere alle domande di SLAM!
Skid Row, donne e birra alcuni degli argomenti.

Introduce your band to SLAM!'s fans that don't know you yet.
Howdy folks! my name´s Dennis Post, and I play guitar in the meanest, fastest, hardest, drunkest?! Heavy Rock´n´Roll Band you´ve never heard of!
We burn like a fucking flamethrower on acid yeaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggg!!!!!

Are u guys satisfied with the results you got from "Broken Halo"?
Yeah dude! I think it turned out pretty good for a first album... there are bits and pieces I would like to change´n shit like that, but that´s how most people feel after their stuff is out... We learned a lot about recording, and that will definetly shine thru on the new album!

How is it going with Adrenaline Records?
it´s going pretty good! Primo, our contact there, recently landed us a contract with Melodic Heaven in Korea for the release of Broken Halo in Asia...You can´t complaint about that!!

"Rebelution" is the title of your forthcoming album. Do we have to expect somethin' new about your sound?
Hell Yeah!! it´s harder than Roco Sifreidi´s dick, and the attitude has been cranked to the max! It still sounds like starrats, but instead of playing hard rock with heavy elements, we flipped it the other way around! I brought home a demo of it, and one of my friends thought it was Anthrax.....

You also recorded "Long live Rock'n'Roll" by Rainbow. Will it be included in the next album as well?
No! The Rainbow song is already on "a tribute to the glory of ´80s metal" (Steelheart Records), and it´ll be on the Asian version of "Broken Halo" as well... along with covers of "tie your mother down" by Queen, and "Mr Crowley" by Ozzy. It´s going to be a duoble disc over there... very cool shit!!!

There will be any cover in it?
Not on the actual album, but we did record "I wanna be somebody" by W.A.S.P, and "Heading out to the highway" by Priest for Asian bonus-tracks.

Talking about covers, why did you choose to do the "Dancing with myself" a cover by Generation X?
I think it´s a great fucking song, but I also felt that the original could easily take a little more rip-your-head-off attitude, so we thashed the annoying keyboard-parts, turned up the tempo, and cranked the guitar... We turned it into what it was always meant to be... a punk-rock anthem!!!!

If you were to choose, what cover would you have done?
...ergh!? Tina Turner´s "private dancer"! It touches me so deeply, and my tiny little fragile heart cries out to all the broken hearted sob´s in the world... blah... blah...!!!

I know you're Skid Row's great fans and your sound is someway affected by it. How was it playing with them?
That was a pretty good show.. unfortunatly the skid´s were totally burned out after months of touring, so they weren´t much fun to hang with... I was still a fucking ball to steal their booze ...he...he..!!

Do you think that Skid Row can still exist even without Sebastian Bach?
Shure! their new album is not bad at all, and the singer is doing a great job live as well! It´s still not Sebastian though, and he will always be the true voice of Skid Row in my opinion!!!

You played as support band for Dokken, Freak Kitchen and Alice Cooper. Did it happen something curious or special you can tell us?
At the Dokken Show I was so incredibly shit-faced that i don´t remember most of it, but we played a pretty good show... I was told!! The Alice Cooper gig was a blast! I teamed up with Eric Dover, and destroyed the backstage room... we threw coconuts around, and Alice´s tour-manager almost took one in the face... after that we we´re all thrown out, but bloody hell, it was fun!!!
Freak Kitchen was the most rescent gig we played, and being old pals with the guys only made it more fun... the backstage area was a war-zone with booze´n chicks flying ´round everywhere and... oops! better stop before I tell stuff I might regret...

I read that the first record you bought was "Bad Medicine"single and the first concert you've been to was Bon Jovi's. Have you listened to "Have a nice day"? What do you think about it?
I Heard the single and I guess it´s okay, but I haven´t been listening to "the jersey syndicate" for many years. I´m more into bands like System of a down, Muse, and Arch Enemy these days. I still loooove the old BJ records!!!

What do you think about bands like D.A.D, Switchblade and Mike Tramp?
I think D.A.D is a great rock band, but I liked their old shit better. It´s a bit too pop oriented these days. Swichblade hmmm!? Their former guitarist Thomas Lock was great, and that´s all I´m gonna say about that band! By the way, Thomas Lock is also the guy who does my tattoos, and we´re pretty good friends, and his new band is gonna fucking smash anything Swichblade ever did!

In Italy if you're not playing in a tribute/cover band, it's hard to find places where to play. How is the situation in Denmark? Can you live on music alone?
I could live off it if I wanted to, but I spend a lot of money, so a little extra cash is needed, and that´s why I have a dayjob as well.
The tribute/cover band bullshit is also a problem here for younger bands, but in our genre, there´s no compettition for us, and we are pretty popular here, so we can pretty much get a gig whenever we want to... Let that be a lesson to all you fucking coverband bitches!!!! As Eddie Van Halen once said; I´d rather bomb with my own shit, than make it we someone else´s! Amen brother!!!

Some friends of mine have been to Copenaghen last summer and were really touched by the beauty of Danish women. Are they really that beautiful or my friends were drunk?
You know what!`that´s exactly what the guys in Denmark says about Italian girls...I guess it´s true then; The grass is always greener on the other side....

If I wanted to go on holiday over there, what do you suggest I should do? What places should I avoid and what pubs can't I miss?
Well, there are 100s of great bars, pubs, and clubs here, but the place I spend the most time is a venue called "The Rock". it´s an 800 people Rock/metal party in the heart of Copenhagen.... oh yeah!? avoid the low-class hookers in the vest-end, they might give you more than you bargained for ergh!"!#(

Give a adjective to each of these guitarists:
John Norum: My first hero, and to this day, a brilliant player!
Zakk Wylde: The meanest motherfucker in the world!! I love the way he demolishes his poor Les Paul and beats the shit out of the strings. He´s also the guy I would most like to take on in a drinking contest ...yikes!
Gary Moore: As fine a rockmonster, as he is a bluesman!!!
Dimebag: Rest in peace brother! I used to laugh my ass off, when old guys got tears in their eyes from talking about Hendrix... I know how they feel now!!!
Steve Vai: A huge influence on me! the king of all that is wierd and insane!
Mattias IA Eklundh: Ahh, my little swedish buddy! One of the nicest guys I know, and by far the greatest player!!! if Vai is the king of wierd, then IA is the fucking GOD!!!!
Slash: Not a big fan of his playing, but I like the iconic, almost cartoonish look he has... gotta dig that hat!!
Richie Sambora: Like Norum, one of my first heroes... great bluesy rock player!

Who do you think is the most underestimated guitarist?
Mattias IA Eklundh, no discussion!!!

Last summer a guitar that belonged to Jimi Hendrix and then to Frank Zappa was put up for an a auction and was sold at a very high price. If you had to do somethin' crazy, what guitar would you spend all your savings on?
I would rather spend it on booze´n Bitches dude! To me, guitars are just pieces of wood! it´s people that makes them sound cool!!! Just look at mine, the´re all fucking wrecks!!!

What are Dennis Post's plans for the future?
World domination... and a beer endorsement!!
